“We made incredible deals,” says Trump about trip to China

The US president’s last engagement was a visit and lunch at Xi Jinping’s official residence

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), said this Friday (May 15, 2026) that he closed “amazing deals” with the Chinese president, (Communist Party of China), during the 2 days of meetings between leaders in Beijing. The statement was made in his opening speech at the last event of the trip, a visit to the Zhongnanhai complex, Xi’s official residence.

Trump did not give details about the agreements, which could be in the economic or diplomatic field. So far, the only agreement between the parties has been the resumption of orders for planes from Chinese airlines. The North American company has been out of the Chinese market since 2017 and placed an order for 200 planes for China.

The head of the White House said that China and the US have similar views on the fate of the war in Iran. According to Trump, everyone agrees that the conflict needs to end quickly, that shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz must be normalized and that the Persian country has nuclear weapons.

Trump declared that the trip to China was “wonderful” and that he discussed many issues with Xi, which still need to be discussed internally with the highest level of the US government. One of the topics discussed by the leaders in recent days, but which Trump did not delve into, was that of the US and Taiwan.

In the last engagement of the China-US summit, Trump and Xi walked through Zhongnanhai gardens, had tea and lunch. Only the first few minutes of the leaders drinking tea were broadcast and the lunch was closed to the cameras.

Xi told Trump that he chose to introduce Zhongnanhai as a way of thanking him for visiting Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s resort and residence in Florida. The Chinese president was there in 2017.

The Chinese leader presented Trump with rose seeds. The Republican said he hopes to return the hospitality on Xi’s visit to Washington this year.
