Austrian El Sheiwi ends his career at the age of 22 after five cruciate ligament tears

Vienna – A once promising career comes to an early end. Austria left-back Ziad El Sheiwi has decided to end his football career at the age of 22 after five cruciate ligament tears – four in his left knee and one in his right knee. “Sometimes it’s not the will that decides, but the body,” said El Sheiwi, whose knee had to be operated on eight times. The home-grown “Veilchen” will be officially farewelled on Sunday before the home game against LASK.
