There are a series of requests to open an investigation, but the establishment of the commission still faces resistance from Motta himself and the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre
The president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), said this Sunday, 17th, that the requests to establish a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to investigate Banco Master will have a “regulatory treatment”, without giving further details.
“We are going to comply with the Chamber’s regulations, which are what have to guide the president’s decision,” Motta told journalists, after participating in a race to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasília.
The government and the opposition are fighting over the leading role in the request to open the CPI to investigate irregularities committed by Banco Master and its owner, Daniel Vorcaro. Master was liquidated by the Central Bank in November 2025. Vorcaro is currently in prison and negotiating a plea bargain.
There are a series of requests to open the investigation. But the establishment of the CPI still faces resistance from Motta himself and the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP).
The topic returned to discussion in Congress after senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and allies requested the establishment of a CPI on Master after the website The Intercept Brazil having revealed that Flávio asked Vorcaro for a contribution of US$24 million.
According to the senator, the amounts would be used to sponsor a film about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro.
