The arrest, reveals the Judiciary Police, took place at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, when the suspect, “foreign citizen, he was questioned as he left the aircraft he was traveling on.”
The Northern Directorate of the Judiciary Police (PJ) reports, this Tuesday, that the number of detainees as part of the “Almocreve” operation has risen to 24, which, remember, “focuses on a criminal organization of a transnational nature, dedicated to establishing commercial companies, opening bank accounts and creating financial circuits intended for the placement, circulation and concealment of funds of illicit originmostly associated with scams carried out in several European countries”
The arrest took place yesterday (Monday), at 11:30 am, at Lisbon Airport, when the suspect, now detained, was preparing to disembark.
The detainee, a foreign citizen whose nationality is not revealed by the PJ, is “another suspect in the commission of crimes of criminal association, money laundering, qualified fraud, computer forgery and aggravated document forgery, involving illicit financial movements in the order of 30 million euros”.
“Following the arrest, house searches were carried out, in which several objects and documentation of evidentiary interest for the ongoing investigation were located and seized”, .
Still within the scope of the “Almocreve” operation, which dates back to March this year, “24 arrests have already been made, 16 of which are on national territory”.
“Subsequently, seven more arrests were made, two on national territory, one in the United Kingdom, in compliance with an international arrest warrant, two in Spain, one in France and another in Italy, these as part of the execution of European arrest warrants”, recalls the PJ.
The person now detained will be presented to the competent judicial authority for the first judicial interrogation and application of appropriate coercive measures, but the investigation continues”in close coordination with national and international judicial and police authorities”emphasizes the Judiciary..
