O Brazilian mountaineer Gustavo Cordoni reached this Tuesday (20) the cume do Monte Everestafter more than a month of climbing.
Facing temperatures close to -23°C and, with the top of the mountain reaching -40°C, Gustavo’s climbing plan involves climbing Everest (8,848m) and Lhotse (8,516m) in less than 24 hours.
O Mount Everest’s summit is the highest point on Earthlocated in the Himalayan mountain range, on the border between Nepal and Tibet.
On social media, Cordoni celebrated the achievement. “I’ve always thought about that moment. I imagined the cold, the wind, the silence, my body on the edge and the emotion of reaching the highest point in the world. But no imagination comes close to what it’s like to truly experience it,” he wrote.
The mountaineer also highlighted that the expedition is not over yet. “Now one of the most important parts begins: the descent. Here, reaching the summit is a huge achievement, but returning safely is the absolute priority,” he said.
According to him, if weather conditions remain favorable, the next goal will be to attempt the summit of Lhotse.
