The defense of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, the , must request the shelving of the investigation by the , which investigates suspicions of fraud in discounts and even raised suspicions about the president’s son ().
When contacted, lawyer Marco Aurélio de Carvalho, coordinator of the Prerogatives group and responsible for Lulinha’s defense in the case alongside Guilherme Suguimori, told the column that what was done this Wednesday (20) reinforced the thesis that the president’s son had no participation in the irregularities investigated.
Roberta stated that she introduced Lulinha to the lobbyist before the launch of Operação Sem Desconto, but denied that he had received resources or worked in businesses linked to the cannabidiol market.

According to him, the defense is considering asking for archiving due to “absolute lack of evidence”.
The investigation investigates suspicions of undue discounts on INSS retirements and pensions between 2019 and 2024. The PF even raised the hypothesis that, which is denied by the defense.
Marco Aurélio said that the president’s son collaborated with the investigations from the beginning and made his secrets available to the courts even before the minister, rapporteur of the case at the (Supreme Federal Court).
The lawyer also compared the case involving Lulinha to the investigations into the senator () and stated that the differences between the attitudes of President Lula and the former president in relation to their children are “oceanic”.
According to him, while Lula advised his son to collaborate with the authorities, Bolsonaro tried to “shield” Flávio during investigations that took place during his government.
Carvalho also stated that, in his assessment, the case no longer represented a political problem for Lula and started to function as an “trump card” for the PT campaign in 2026, precisely because it “allows comparisons between the two families”.
He also joked and said that Lulinha’s insistence on breaking confidentiality ended up helping the defense by exposing, according to him, the non-existence of irregularities.
