United States President Donald Trump said he is in the “final stages” of negotiations with Iran, in comments to reporters made on his way to an event at the Coast Guard Association.
According to the White House press group, Trump also reiterated threats to Tehran if an agreement is not reached.
“We’ll see what happens. Either we can reach an agreement, or we’ll do things that are a little unpleasant, I hope it doesn’t come to that,” he said.
Earlier, the American president had already given statements to reporters at the White House, commenting on the Republican Party primaries, relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and briefly on the situation in the Middle East.
On the occasion, he praised Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, but said that the prime minister will do “anything” that Trump “wants him to do”.
Regarding Iran, Trump had said this morning that he is not in a rush to close an agreement and even cited old US wars that lasted for years.
