Now something has happened again. Anyone who knows the Brenner crime novels by Wolf Haas will look forward to the typical introduction to the novels. The same starting sentence is also suitable for the Brenner in Tyrol – although it causes less joy there. The base tunnel (BBT) between Austria and Italy has been planned for decades, and its opening has been postponed for just as long. Initially planned for 2016, they later agreed on 2026, and most recently on the distant year 2032 – but that too is in jeopardy.
