By order of Mendonça, Anac blocks Ciro Nogueira’s plane

By order of Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court, the National Aviation Agency (Anac) blocked an aircraft belonging to Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), purchased by the parliamentarian in 2023, for R$4 million. It is an executive twin engine, from the manufacturer Beech Aircraft, model B200.

The order for the hijacking and unavailability of the plane was entered in the records of the aircraft operated by companies located in Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte. The blocking decision was sent to Anac on May 8, one day after Ciro was the target of a Federal Police operation.

Ciro was one of the main targets of the fifth phase of Operation Compliance Zero. The Federal Police stated that they had identified an alleged action by the senator in favor of former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, in exchange for receiving undue economic advantages. The investigators pointed out, for example, that an amendment presented by Nogueira in the Senate to expand the coverage of the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC) was written within Banco Master.

In exchange for his performance, Ciro received “undue advantages”, according to the PF, such as recurring monthly payments of R$300,000 to R$500,000; and the cost of international travel, accommodation, restaurants and private flights.

When the operation was opened, Ciro’s defense stated that he “repudiated any conclusion of illegality about his conduct, especially in his parliamentary activities”. The lawyers also said that Ciro was committed to contributing to Justice “in order to clarify that he had no participation in illicit activities and in the facts investigated”.

Days later, the senator went online and stated that the investigations against him in the Banco Master case are part of an “absurd fictional script”. The parliamentarian alleged alleged political persecution and stated that he “did not commit any irregularity”.
