DC opens process to expel Aldo Rebelo from the party – 05/21/2026 – Panel

Christian Democracy (DC) opened disciplinary proceedings against former minister Aldo Rebelo and decided that he will be summarily expelled from the party.

The decision was taken after the pre-candidate for the Presidency made public criticisms, João Caldas.

The former minister said that Caldas was worried about the progress of the Master case in Alagoas. The state capital was commanded until the beginning of April by his son, JHC (PSDB).

In a statement released this Thursday (21), the party says that it vehemently repudiates the attacks against the leadership of the party and that Aldo’s attitudes are not in line with Christian Democratic values.

“There is no room, however, for threats, slander, defamation, bad faith and arrogance,” said the position.

The party said the decision comes after attempts to resolve the issue harmoniously, but without success.

“In view of the exhaustion of the various attempts at a harmonious resolution — frustrated by the repeated intransigence of the newly affiliated member — and in view of the very serious facts and evidence discovered, which contravene the values, principles, objectives and statute of the party, the national leadership of the DC decides to immediately open disciplinary proceedings against the aforementioned member”, he stated.

Aldo was raffled off by the party leadership to make room for Joaquim Barbosa’s pre-candidacy, The decision
