  • The landslide was discovered by road administration workers during a regular inspection round.

The road between the villages of Ruské Pekľany and Obišovce was temporarily completely closed due to a landslide. According to the Road Administration and Maintenance of the Prešov Self-governing Region (SÚC PSK), the state of communication is long-term influenced by geological conditions and the proximity of the Svinka watercourse. According to road workers, the recent rains have significantly worsened local landslide activities. An expert assessment of the site is scheduled for Friday.

According to the SÚC PSK, the landslide of the road body was discovered by its employees during a regular inspection of the roads on Wednesday (May 20). The complete closure was decided after communication with the police, the traffic inspectorate and the Prešov District Office in order to ensure the safety of road traffic.

“The extent of road damage is at the stage of expert assessment, it is about local landslides of the road body,” stated from the SÚC. At the same time, the road administrator is preparing project documentation for the rehabilitation of landslides and ensuring the passability of the road within the original parameters.

The passage of the section will depend on the conclusions of the expert assessment. SÚC PSK subsequently plans to proceed with the implementation of necessary measures and security workswhich could allow the resumption of traffic at least in the mode of partial closure with restrictions.
