Cast participated in interviews to obtain documents; Iranians will play on North American soil in the group stage
The football team of Iran applied for visas on Thursday (May 21, 2026), in Ankaracapital of Türkiye. The entire cast participated in the interviews to obtain the tournament’s host countries.
Players who had not yet applied for US visas before the war between Iran and the United States also submitted their applications. A leader of Iranian Football Federation confirmed the presence of all athletes in the process.
Iran will play the 3 matches in the United States. The first 2 clashes will be in Los Angeles. The 3rd game of the initial phase will be held in Seattle.
If they advance to the round of 16, the team will play their next match in Canada.
CLASSIFICATION
The Iranian team secured an early place in the World Cup. The country’s participation in the tournament remained uncertain for a long period due to the conflict with the United States and Israel.
Since the beginning of the week, part of the group has been training in AntalyaTurkish city. The Iranian players who play abroad joined the team on Thursday (May 21, 2026) and will go to the preparation location.
Iran has a friendly match scheduled against Gambia on May 29th. The technician Amir Ghalenoei will release the final list of 26 players for the World Cup by June 1st, the deadline established by Fifa.
