Datafolha: Flávio’s team minimizes post-Vorcaro drop – 05/22/2026 – Politics

The pre-campaign of (-RJ) minimized what was announced this Friday (22), pointing out that the result was better than expected and that () had an advantage in the second round.

The decline of four percentage points in the first round was treated by two of Flávio’s allies as “a scratch”. They point out that the voting intention of the PL pre-candidate migrated, mostly, to other names on the right, while Lula only grew by two points — which, in the group’s view, indicates that the electorate would return to Flávio in the second round.

Those around the President of the Republic also expected a greater fall from Flávio, after the revelation that the former banker, from Master, financed the film and visited him at home when he.

In the first round, Flávio fell from 35 to 31 points, while Lula varied from 38 to 40, in comparison with the survey. In the second round, however, Lula has 47% of voting intentions and Flávio, 43%. The PT member grew two percentage points, while the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) fluctuated two points, at the limit of the margin of error.

In this way, allies celebrate Flávio’s maintenance at the same level reached in the previous survey. Now, they point to the consolidation of the PL pre-candidate and assess that any discussion about changing the candidacy is dead.

Another point that encourages Bolsonarists is the rejection of Lula. The PT member dropped two points and now has 45% of those interviewed saying they would not vote for him. Flávio numerically surpassed the president, being rejected by 46%, an increase of three points compared to the previous survey.

“Flávio remains viable, Lula continues with high rejection. Flávio’s rejection is reversible. The research proves that the candidacy is highly competitive. Even with strong attacks in the last seven days, little has changed”, says the leader of the PL in the Chamber, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ).

Senator Efraim Filho (PL-PB), pre-candidate for the Government of Paraíba, says that the research shows that Flávio’s candidacy remains competitive and that he and Lula are technically tied in the second round.

“I think the result puts to rest any discussion about changing the candidacy of our camp, of the PL. Now it’s time to try to recover those lost points. The candidacy remains competitive and we will work to get back to a draw”, he states.

Meanwhile, members of the PT leadership say that the rejection recorded by the survey is in line with what was being monitored by the party and that the tendency is for the wear on the senator’s image to increase. The party’s vice-president, Jilmar Tatto, states that the case should also alienate members of the center who sought to associate themselves with Flávio.

Other Lula allies believe that Flávio’s fall was even smaller than they expected, given the . The president’s interlocutors also point out that Lula still needs to reduce rejection and are betting on starting the campaign via television to achieve this goal.

There is an understanding that the televised campaign should place Lula and Flávio on a greater equal footing and reinforce the senator’s weariness vis-à-vis the president. For now, the dispute over the narrative has been taking place, mainly on social media, in which the PT member still lags behind when compared to his rival, observe allies.

Government officials are also betting on the impact of management’s deliveries to maintain the improvement in performance against Bolsonaro’s eldest son. “We expect solid and constant growth”, says the government leader in the Chamber, Paulo Pimenta (PT-RS). “The government’s deliveries, actions and international stance, especially with the USA, certainly had an impact.”

The PT’s Communication Secretary, Éden Valadares, attributes the results to a disappointment felt by Flávio’s voters following the revelation of the senator’s involvement in the banking scandal – corruption is one of the main points associated by the right with Lula and the PT.

“A part of the Bolsonarista electorate was mobilized for years by the issue of corruption and, when faced with the reality of the Federal Police investigations into Flávio, this had a strong impact and a climate of disenchantment”, he says. “When the revelations about Vorcaro and , what was mistrust was confirmed as disappointment.”

In line with reinforcing the erosion of Flávio’s image, deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) states that the research reflects the impacts of the scandal and tends to strengthen Lula in the dispute.

“After the ‘Dark Horse’ scandal, people started connecting the dots and the result appeared in the survey. Lula opens up an advantage over Flávio Bolsonaro while their castle of lies is crumbling,” he wrote.

The government’s head of political articulation, José Guimarães, used the same tone of optimism, in a publication via X (formerly Twitter).

“This is Brazil indicating that it prefers the truth over lies. That it prefers a fair State, which takes care of people, rather than a minimal State project, which is only minimal for the poor. Today’s survey shows that Brazilians are attentive to the truth. And the truth sets people free!”, he wrote.
