The evaluation of the president’s government (PT) has been gradually improving, but is still negative. Management is seen as bad or terrible by 38% of Brazilians and as excellent or good by 32%, according to new research.
The percentage fluctuated within the margin of error, of two percentage points, in relation to , released last Saturday (16). The portion that considers management positive fluctuated positively by two percentage points, while the negative fluctuated one point downward. Another 28% classify the government as regular.
The difference between negative and positive evaluations has been shrinking: it was 11 points in the survey released in April (40% against 29%), fell to 9 points in the edition released last week (39% to 30%) and reached 6 points this Saturday (38% to 32%).
Approval and disapproval are now tied at 48%. In the previous survey, 45% approved of the PT member’s work, and 51% disapproved of him.
Datafolha interviewed 2,004 people aged 16 or over in 139 municipalities, in face-to-face interviews carried out on Wednesday (20) and Thursday (21). The maximum margin of error is two percentage points, plus or minus, with a 95% confidence level. The survey is registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under code BR-07489/2026.
This was the first round of the institute carried out in full after the revelation, by the website Intercept Brasil, that (PL-RJ), Lula’s rival in the electoral dispute, asked the former banker, from, for money to finance a film about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). Among those who say they know the episode, 64% believe that the senator acted badly.
In the electoral scenario, the president has an advantage over the senator from Rio in the first round simulation, scoring 40% compared to 31% for his opponent. A week ago, within the survey’s margin of error of two percentage points: 38% to 35%. In the second round, the then tie at 45% turned into an advantage of 47% to 43% for the PT member.
The worst moment of Lula’s evaluation in this term occurred in February 2025, when the excellent or good index fell to 24%, amid successive crises, including that of Pix. The negative rating reached its peak in the same month (41%) and has since fluctuated between 37% and 40%.
The last month was marked by government measures with electoral appeal, such as the launch of the , the revocation of the call and a provisional measure to contain the increase in the price of gasoline. For those who earn up to R$5,000, one of the 2022 campaign promises came into force at the beginning of this year.
Compared to presidents at an equivalent point in their term, since Fernando Henrique Cardoso (PSDB), Lula’s 38% negative rating is only below the rate recorded by Bolsonaro. In 2022, 48% rated the then president as bad or terrible. The index was 26% for Dilma Rousseff (PT) in 2014, 5% for Lula in 2010 and 22% in his first term, in 2006. Fernando Henrique scored 21% in 1998 and 29% in 2002.
91% of voters do not regret their vote in the second round of the 2022 presidential elections. Among those who voted for Lula, the percentage is 90%.
