A trademark of Jair Bolsonaro’s electoral campaign () in 2022, motorcycles are not in the immediate plans of his son’s presidential candidacy, the senator (PL).
who organized most of these demonstrations, says he offered to repeat the dose now, but received no response from the campaign.
“I’m waiting for their signal. Nobody says anything. They think they’re all already elected,” he says.
During the Bolsonaro years, Ferraz, known as Jacaré, organized motorbikes in cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belém, Juiz de Fora, Belo Horizonte and Angra dos Reis.
The events, which attracted a few thousand participants, began in 2021, as a demonstration of Bolsonaro’s strength amid the pandemic, defying experts’ recommendations for social isolation. They later became campaign acts for the then president.
According to a member of Flávio’s campaign, the initial assessment is that the motorcycles were very identified and that repeating them now would hinder the senator’s idea of showing himself to be more moderate than his father.
This reasoning may change later, however, if it is concluded that they are useful for mobilizing the conservative electorate.
Ferraz says he has already spoken with Flávio’s advisors and made himself available to organize new motorcycles. “I need to know if they want it, because it is necessary to organize, ask for authorization from the PM, Municipal Guard, CET. It is not simple”, he states.
He created a club for supporters of these events, which already has around 400 members. “We do motorcycling for love, not for the money,” he says.
