Trial for slaughter of 10 farmers in PA resumes – 05/24/2026 – Panel

After almost a decade of waiting, the Court of Justice of Pará scheduled for next Tuesday (26) the trial of the defense appeals of the civil and military police officers accused when ten rural workers were killed in the state, on May 24, 2017.

Conducted by the Federal Police, the investigation was concluded in 2018, just over a year after the massacre. Since then, the defense appeals have been awaited to determine the trial of the defendants.

During the period, eight judges declared themselves suspected of acting in the case, something considered unusual, which contributed to delaying the process. Two civil police officers and 14 military officers were indicted for the crime.

The case once again entered the radar of the Federal Public Ministry, revealing a possible process of erasure of evidence, with the murder of the main witness, Fernando dos Santos Araújo, in 2021.

The film was shown last Wednesday (20) during the inauguration ceremony of Deputy Attorney General of the Republic Paulo Thadeu as federal prosecutor for Citizen’s Rights.
