Week will have GDP in Europe and inflation in Japan

Calendar has holidays in the US, UK and Germany, as well as employment and consumption data

The international finance and economics agenda from Monday (May 25, 2026) to Friday (May 29, 2026) will include the release of Gross Domestic Product data in France, Italy, Portugal and Canada, as well as data on inflation, unemployment, consumer confidence and retail sales.

This Monday (May 25, 2026), holidays in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany are expected to reduce liquidity in the markets. Americans celebrate Memorial Day, while the British will have the Spring Bank Holiday and Germans will have the Pentecost holiday. Mexico releases the trade balance for April at 9 am.

On Tuesday (May 26, 2026), the USA releases the consumer confidence index for May, at 11 am. The indicator measures families’ perception of the current economic situation and expectations for the coming months.

On Wednesday (May 27, 2026), France reports consumer confidence data for May, at 3:45 am. The result serves as a thermometer for family consumption in the 2nd largest economy in the Euro Zone.

On Thursday (May 28, 2026), the agenda will be busier. Spain releases April retail sales at 4am. Italy, Portugal and the Euro Zone present consumer confidence data. Also included are Italy’s trade balance outside the European Union, India’s industrial production, Mexico’s unemployment rate and, in Japan, inflation, unemployment and retail sales.

On Friday (May 29, 2026), France, Italy, Portugal and Canada release GDP for the 1st quarter. Germany reports unemployment and inflation data, while Italy also reports its unemployment rate. In Canada, the budget balance for March is still out. Japan ends the week with April retail sales figures at 8:50 p.m.
