The Federal Police informed the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that the replacement of the area responsible for investigations related to the INSS was administrative in nature and did not represent political interference in the investigations affecting businessman Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha.
The explanation was sent to Minister André Mendonça in a letter sent at the beginning of the month, obtained by CNN. Mendonça is the rapporteur of the inquiry that investigates suspicions involving undue discounts in the INSS and possible relationships of people linked to the son of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
The PF demonstration occurred after questions about the departure of delegate Guilherme Figueiredo Silva from coordinating the case. The change began to be explored by opposition parliamentarians, who accuse the corporation of trying to reduce the scope of investigations involving Lulinha.
According to the Federal Police, the change resulted only from the transfer of the case to another internal structure of the institution.

According to the corporation, the investigation left the Social Security Crimes Repression Division and began to be processed under the responsibility of the Coordination of Inquiries in Superior Courts (Cinq).
The area specializes in investigations involving authorities with privileged jurisdiction and works directly in procedures supervised by the Supreme Court.

In a statement, the PF stated that the change sought to “ensure greater efficiency and continuity in investigations”, arguing that Cinq has a permanent structure focused on cases considered sensitive and complex.
Despite the justification, the change resulted in the departure of the delegate who had been conducting central stages of the investigation.
The team previously responsible for the investigation was the author of requests considered strategic within the investigation. Among them are requests for breach of confidentiality involving Lulinha and the negotiation of the plea bargain of businessman Maurício Camisotti.
The collaboration agreement was forwarded to the STF, but ended up being returned for reformulation after questions related to the participation of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in the process.
The case had to be restarted with formal monitoring by the PGR.
