Hugo Soares, PSD parliamentary leader
And Hugo Soares is Cebolinha. Storms, SIRESP and labor law were subjects that were debated fortnightly.
The Prime Minister considered the contribution of the President of the Republic on the management of storms, which says it is “almost all included” in the PTRR, but admits that “here or there” “coordination rules” can be improved
“I can reiterate that, as stated in the report of the President of the Republic’s open presidency, the Government was very present, very close”, he stated.
Luis Montenegro admitted that “it didn’t go well“, justifying, straight away, the unprecedented nature of Kristin’s depression, and argued that “everything was done” to anticipate and manage that climate phenomenon.
“Evidently, here or there with some need for improve coordination rulesinstruments of interinstitutional cooperation, intermunicipal cooperation and so that we can move to the most affected territory a capacity that is often spread throughout the territory”, he stated.
On this subject, José Luís Carneiro he said that “there was no planning, there was no timely response” from the Government. The secretary general of the PS spoke in “incompetence, incapacity e insensitivity” of the State.
Carneiro assured that the PS is ready to help the Government to build solutions.
Airports
The Prime Minister once again admitted suspend, at least in “critical hours”, the new border control system at airports to ensure that the Portuguese economy “is not penalized”.
“We do not want to get to the point of suspending procedures, but if we have to do so, especially at critical times, under the rules that our European commitments also allow, we will do so while this entire mechanism does not operate absolutely normally”, stated Luís Montenegro.
SIRESP
Montenegro also referred to the controversy with the choice of the head of SIRESP, which led to the dismissal of the deputy secretary general of Internal Administration António Pombeiro, but placed responsibility for the malfunctioning of emergency communications in the past.
“The focus here is fix what didn’t work in the past and be able to do it with a degree of efficiency that is the most intense, the most robust, the deepest possible”, he said, reiterating the availability already announced by Minister Luís Neves to give explanations in Parliament.
labor law
Several interventions criticized the Government’s proposed labor law.
Isabel Mendes Lopesparliamentary leader of Livre, spoke of an “intransigent” Government and insisting on labor reform, despite the “evident rate of rejection” of the document.
And then, an unexpected reference: “Even the Pope came to say that we need political choices that make job stability viable”.
Luís Montenegro reacted: Livre complains about inequalities, but does not appear to be “available to change” anything in the labor law.
Hugo Soares, parliamentary leader of the PSD, attacked the opposition, on several fronts and with various pretexts.
The deputy was full of “astonishment” upon hearing an “extreme left party” (Livre) say that the PSD “doesn’t listen to the pope, but they do”.
“It’s truly extraordinary. It’s the world in reverse“, he said, in one of his interventions.
comics
Hugo Soares then turned to comics: “Certain members of the opposition could be comic book characters: André Ventura is Lucky Luke, José Luís Carneiro is Speedy González”.
And he explained: “The speed with which they shoot is such, the quick way they live off the foam of the days is such.”
André Ventura also leafed through comic books: “I hadn’t seen this before: caricaturing opposition leaders – although there is only one opposition leader. But there is also a character for the deputy Hugo Soares: Cebolinha, who didn’t bring anything new or do anything new, but always wanted to be the biggest guy on his street, he wanted to be the baddest guy on his street, including stealing rabbits.”
And there was still a character for the Prime Minister, shortly afterwards: “We cannot continue to say that we live in the German economy when more people are born in ambulances than last year, when we are at the bottom of Europe in terms of salaries, when 1.6 million people are without a family doctor. (…) If Hugo Soares is Cebolinha, you are Prime Minister is Peter Panwho lives in Neverland”, continued the Chega leader.
