Minister of the Interior of the SR Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) plans to increase police salaries. His coalition party Hlas-SD will thereby condition the adoption of the state budget for next year. He stated this at a press conference on Thursday.
“I will do everything to ensure that the next budget also includes an increase in the salaries of police officers, a fundamental increase in the salaries of police officers. We have it in the program statement of the government and it will be one of the conditions of Hlas-SD. Without it, the budget will not be approved.” declared Šutaj Eštok. According to him, negotiations on the preparation of the budget began these days. The minister spoke about the new salary class.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of the Interior reacted to the words of the chairman of the opposition PS, Michal Šimečka, regarding pensions. He declared that as long as he is a minister, he will not interfere with the social system of the police and other security forces. Šimečka explained on the social network that he is not advocating the cancellation of long-service pensions, as it is interpreted according to him. In the Radio Expres Braňo Závodský Naživo program, where he made the criticized statements, he spoke about the addressability of the 13th pensions.
