In October 2025, the writer Jozef Banáš (77) launched his 17th book, a novel called The Silent Rebel Timrava, this time about an important female figure in our history. The writer collected, sorted materials and wrote his new work for almost two years.
If Bozena Slančíková Timrava were alive today, she would probably rightly deserve the title of rebel. During her life, she rejected conventions, lived freely, was direct and commented on social shortcomings with irony in her works. Timrava pseudonym the writer chose according to the well located near her hometown of Polichno, where she lived most of her life.
The book is a huge success, which was also confirmed by a report recently published by Banáš himself. “Friends, I am touched and happy! Timrava has really been published in Egypt. Yesterday I held the Arabic edition in my hands for the first time,” he stated on Thursday, May 28 on the social network. PHOTO can be found in the gallery.
On this occasion, the successful author did not forget to express his gratitude to all those who helped him with the realization of this demanding international project. “Thank you to everyone who put a hand to the work, especially to Professor Khalid Biltagi, Triumph Gallery Slovakia and To the Government of the Slovak Republic, which at the exit meeting in Levice 2026 decided to support the translation of this project,” he clarified. However, the translation of the novel into Arabic has a surprisingly deep societal impact, and the Slovak heroine has become a huge inspiration in the Arab world. “As Professor Biltagi wrote to me, Timrava is the third European writer after Bozena Němcová and George Sandova, who is a motivational role model for Egyptian women,” he added.
The executive director of the Cairo House of Culture and Art, which published the novel in Egypt, also commented on the success of the book. “It is an honor for us to bring to the Arab market the story of a woman’s struggle against social restrictions that tried to marginalize her. The novel proves that the written word can become the strongest form of resistance.” said Sara Abdeen. According to her, the quiet rebel is a tribute to every woman who decides to stay true to herself in a world that wants to limit her.
