They didn’t wake him up from artificial sleep: The football representative († 33) died after a terrible crash on a motorcycle!

Greek football representative Marios Oikonomou died at the age of 33 as a result of serious injuries after a traffic accident. His death was announced on Monday by the Greek Football Federation (EPO).

On May 23, Oikonomou was involved in a traffic accident when his motorcycle collided with a car. The defender was immediately hospitalized in critical condition. In the hospital, he underwent an operation on the injured skull, after which he was transferred to the intensive care unit. In the past days, doctors tried to take him out of artificial sleep, but were unsuccessful. “His death is a tragic loss for all of Greek football,” the national team’s representatives said in a statement.

During his career, the six-time Greek representative wore the jerseys of AEK Athens, Giannina and Danish Copenhagen, but he played the most matches for Bologna. He started 74 matches for the Italian team, in which he scored four goals.
