City gives 19 players for the 2026 World Cup – 06/03/2026 – Sport

Manchester City leads the ranking of clubs that provide the most players for the 2026 World Cup, with 19 athletes called up by 12 different teams, including England.

The survey was obtained by the report based on records compiled by Opta of the 1,248 players called up by the 48 teams.

The list continues with two European giants: Bayern Munich, 18, and Arsenal, 16, who were champions of the English league after 22 years of fasting. There will be 15 PSG players in the World Cup. Barcelona appears next, with 14.

The only Brazilian team that appears in the top 30 is Flamengo, with nine squads. Just one less than the powerful Real Madrid, which had no athletes called up for the Spanish national team for the first time in history.

The Premier League, the first division of the English Championship, recognized as the greatest national league in world football, leads the list of athletes called up for the World Cup, with 162 names in contention.

The Bundesliga, the German Championship, has 99 representatives in the Cup, and LaLiga, the Spanish Championship, 80.

Most of those called up play in the first division of the leagues, but there are 80 names that currently compete in the second division of teams from Spain, England, Italy, France, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, among others. One example is Josimar Dias, goalkeeper from Cape Verde. Known as Vozinha, he currently plays for Chaves, in the Portuguese second division.

Athletes from Brazilian Championship teams — in addition to those called up by Carlo Ancelotti — also compete in the Cup for six other teams. Paraguay and Uruguay will take seven Brazilian football athletes, including Gustavo Goméz (Palmeiras), Sosa (Palmeiras), Arrascaeta (Flamengo) and Canobbio (Fluminense).

After Flamengo, the Brazilian club with the most call-ups was Palmeiras, with seven. Atlético-MG sent four athletes, while Internacional and Grêmio sent two each. Santos, Botafogo, Athletico-PR, Vasco and Corinthians will each have one representative.
