Earlier, the US president admitted to having spoken ‘angrily’ to the Israeli prime minister in a telephone conversation held last weekend
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, said this Wednesday (3) that he had discussed with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, but that the disagreement will be resolved. “Sometimes, as happens in the best families, we have these tactical disagreements. We always find a way to resolve them”said the prime minister in an interview with CNBC.
Netanyahu said he would not go into details about the conversation with Trump, but said the issues on which the two agree outweigh their disagreements. “We agree on so many points, we reach a consensus on what is the main thing. We can disagree in the morning and take joint action in the afternoon.”he stated.
Donald Trump had already admitted, also this Wednesday, in a telephone conversation held last weekend. On Tuesday (2), the website Axios revealed that, during the contact, the North American called the prime minister “crazy” and pressured him to stop the military escalation against Lebanon.
Trumo’s statement was made in an interview with the “Pod Force One” podcast, in which he confirmed the disagreement when asked about the dialogue. “I was a little disturbed by his constant fights with Lebanon, you know?”, declared the president.
Despite acknowledging the discussion, the Republican then stated that he gets along “very well” with the Israeli leader.
Lebanon x Hezbollah
The prime minister said that Trump “He is the best friend Israel has ever had” and understands that Lebanon was taken hostage by Hezbollah, seeking to justify the Israeli offensives in Beirut.
“We are trying to weaken Hezbollah so that a free Lebanon can emerge, we need to demilitarize Lebanon. Hezbollah cannot invade Israel and do what Hamas did.”he explained, without detailing Trump’s statements in the call they held that week. “We are facing an enemy Hezbollah who wants to destroy us.”
About the war with Iran, Netanyahu claimed that the Iranian regime “is much weaker”but highlighted that the conflict is not over yet. According to him, a way must be found to remove nuclear material from Tehran and Israeli and American forces are prepared to enter Iran if necessary.
“Trump and I agree on the main points regarding Iran. If a military escalation is necessary, I will abide by Trump’s decision. He is evaluating several options. We talk once every two days”mentioned.
Netanyahu warned that a military option is possible to open the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main points of divergence in reaching an understanding to end the war.
