The police warn Slovaks before going on vacation: never put THIS thing on the Internet! Otherwise you will lose everything

Before going on vacation, you should properly secure your property and not rely on chance. All doors and windows should be properly locked, attention should also be paid to side entrances or cellars. In connection with the approaching holiday season, during which the number of burglaries increases, this was stated for TASR by the spokesman of the Presidium of the Police Force, Roman Hájek.

“Use mechanical and electronic security – security doors, lockable window fittings, grilles, locks, but also an electronic alarm or camera system. Modern systems will notify you in the event of a breach via a mobile phone application,” stated. According to him, it is also not appropriate to share this information on social networks when going on vacation. It is best to post vacation photos after you return.

According to him, it is beneficial to have a trustworthy person aroundwhich matures on the property. It can empty the mailbox and check the object. It creates the impression that the house is inhabited. “The absence of owners is one of the main motives for the perpetrators,” he added. According to him, property insurance is also under consideration, which can mitigate the consequences in the event of a burglary.

Hájek pointed out that the police in the field are taking measures, but prevention starts at home with people, while even simple steps can reduce the risk. As the spokesman added, last year, according to statistics, 3,328 cases of burglary were recorded. The total damage caused by such criminal activity reached almost 10 million euros.
