Caiado denies agreement for ticket with Zema – 06/04/2026 – Politics

The former governor of Goiás () denied an agreement to form a ticket with the former governor of Minas Gerais (Novo) to run for President of the Republic.

The statement was made in an interview with the IronTalks podcast this Wednesday (3). When asked if he intended to be Zema’s vice president or have him on his ticket, Caiado said that both should pursue their campaigns separately.

“No, no. Zema will continue with his campaign and I will continue with mine. My conversation with Zema was about not continuing with these disagreements between us candidates and that the center-right cannot arrive fragmented in the second round”.

Last week, the two pre-candidates had admitted the possibility of the presidential election.

In the podcast interview, Caiado cited the dialogue with pre-candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) this week as an example that they are in the running for the Presidency.

“Just yesterday, we had our first meeting there in Belo Horizonte, where Flávio, Zema and I were there. We had the opportunity to talk there, all three of us together, reinforcing the thesis of the second round unit”, he stated.

When asked if he spoke to Renan Santos (Missão) about the possibility of being vice-president, Caiado joked that due to the “prevalence of the point of view of age”, Santos is the one who would have to call him to talk about the matter — the former governor is 76 years old, and the Missão pre-candidate is 42.

During the event in Belo Horizonte, Caiado said that a meeting is planned next week to discuss names for vice-president. , was cited as a “strong name” for the position.

“Without a doubt, she is a strong name, a woman who has the ability to speak to millions of Brazilians, with a television program, and that makes her a federal deputy [que será] elected”, he told journalists on Monday (1st).

Regarding the possibility of the national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab, Caiado said that the leader is the main part of his pre-candidacy, but that other names are being considered and the decision should take place next month.
