The governor of Bahia, (PT), cried, this Friday (June 26, 2026), at an event in Barreiras (BA) while defending the former government leader in the Senate, (PT-BA). Alongside the senator, he became emotional on the pulpit while giving the speech.
“Us we will show, we will prove, that if you [Jaques Wagner] One mistake in life is the mistake of taking care of the poor and dedicating your life. We trust you”said Jerônimo.
Wagner admitted having links with the businessman and former partner of Banco Master, Augusto Lima, after a new stage of the Compliance Zero operation was by the Federal Police on June 18. The operation investigated Wagner’s possible participation in an irregularity scheme involving institutions in the national financial system.
Despite admitting his closeness to the businessman, the senator denied his participation in illicit activities and criticized the actions of the Federal Police. Shortly afterwards, on June 24, Wagner government leadership in the Senate.
“Right now, my absolute priority is to prove my innocence and dedicate myself to the re-election of President Lula and Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, in addition to my re-election together with Rui Costa to the Senate”wrote Jaques Wagner.
PF TARGET
Jaques Wagner was the target of the 9th phase of the Compliance Zero operation, launched by the PF on June 18 to investigate the possible participation of public agents in an irregularity scheme involving institutions in the national financial system.
In total, 18 search and seizure warrants were issued in Bahia, São Paulo and the Federal District, in addition to precautionary measures, such as prohibition of contact between those being investigated and suspension of passports. According to the corporation, the facts discovered could constitute, in theory, the crimes of passive corruption, active corruption and money laundering.
