Flávio talks about spiritual warfare at the March for Jesus – 06/04/2026 – Politics

The presidential candidate (-RJ) stated that “evil will be expelled from the Brazilian government” and that the country is experiencing a “spiritual war”. The statement was made at , an event that takes place on this Thursday (4) in Corpus Christi.

Also present, the Union’s attorney general, quoted the president (PT) to say that the occasion was not a platform. “President Lula sent me here, he asked me for some things: he asked me to bring love, the word of love and communion, and he said that this is not the place for a rally,” he declared.

The former president’s eldest son (PL) spoke in the morning at the event. “Let’s pray for our Brazil, this war is spiritual. The greatest response we can give to the evil that will be expelled from the Brazilian government this year”, he stated.

“I’m not here as a candidate, I’m here as a Christian”, he had said shortly before. Flávio, who is a pre-candidate for Planalto in 2026, was not present in previous years.

Minutes before speaking to the trio, he dodged two questions asked to him by the Sheet. The first: it was believed that they had the potential to harm his candidacy. The senator met with Donald Trump days before the announcement and, as a vaccine for this idea already explored by Lula, his biggest opponent, said he asked the American president to veto the taxation.

Flávio said that the time was not to talk about politics.

He also declined to answer about the preference of evangelical leaders for a ticket that would unite the governor of São Paulo, (Republicans), and the former first lady. The governor can no longer run for a position other than the one he already holds, due to restrictions in electoral legislation, and Michelle would be an option for the head of the ticket that has been ruled out for now.

Flávio stated that he was there “to pray for the country”, not to talk about politics.

Although he was not the preferred presidential candidate of the segment’s leaders, he passed the public test: he went down into the crowd and caused a commotion, with a lot of pushing and shoving from faithful looking for selfies with the senator. “Let me be Bolsonaro’s grandson!” and “send a kiss to your father!” were some of the requests he received after speaking at the trio.

When asked by a reporter whether he had spoken to Tarcísio, Flávio refused to answer: “There’s no interview here.”

Last week, the governor had stated that the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) needed to explain many issues regarding the Master case, of the former banker, who financed

Flávio was in the main electric trio of the event, with governor Tarcísio; the mayor of the capital of São Paulo, (); the minister of the Federal Supreme Court, André Mendonça; , ; the pre-candidates for the Senate for São Paulo, deputies André do Prado (PL) and Guilherme Derrite (PP); and state deputy Lucas Bove (PL).

In the afternoon, on stage, Tarcísio sang praises, was called an “exceptional governor” by the apostle Estevam Hernandes and spoke with biblical emphasis. He spoke to “people who cry in secret” and to “those who have family problems, illness problems”.

“We may be persecuted but we will not be helpless,” said the governor. “It can be knocked down but it will be lifted up. Who believes that?”

The city’s mayor spoke next and mentioned Flávio’s presence, which was received with enthusiasm from the public.

Then the senator entered. “I know that women pray more”, he said and then asked everyone, without distinction, to do the same for his father. He sang a gospel hymn called “Victory Hymn” and revered Israel, referring to a cause dear to evangelicals.

“I know that women pray more than men, but I ask everyone to pray for Jair Messias Bolsonaro. Pray for Brazil, which will once again become a sister nation of Israel. Brazil above all, God above all.”

The USP/Cebrap Political Debate Monitor and the NGO More in Common estimated the presence of 33,800 people at the march, at its peak time around 10:20 in the morning. The margin of error is 12%, which means that, according to this calculation, the audience was between 29,800 and 37,800 people.

According to the group, the count was made from aerial photos that covered the entire length of the act, without overlapping, and were analyzed with artificial intelligence software. They also state that they only recorded the concentration and movement, due to the fact that the final destination of the march was in an area close to Campo de Marte, and it was not safe to use drones in the region.

A left-wing minority among the political leaders at the event, Messias, who is evangelical, spent a good part of the march in the front part of the electric trio, isolated in a corner of the car. A participant in the trio told the report that he only spoke with Tarcísio and Mendonça, who campaigned for his appointment to the STF, rejected by Congress.

To the public, the apostle Hernandes as “the governor and mayor of the march”. “They are servants of God”, he said when calling them for a joint photograph, after a brief speech.

The March reaches its 34th edition under the theme “every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is the Lord”. The choice, according to Hernandes, is inspired by the verse in which Jesus preaches: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
