The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Slovaks: Do not travel to these parts of Egypt, they are dangerous!

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic does not recommend traveling to Israel, the Palestinian territories or parts of Egypt. In the case of Egypt, this recommendation is established for a longer period of time. On the other hand, in the case of Israel and Palestine this week, the department eased it from the recommendation to leave the given territories. He informed about it on his website.

“If it is necessary to stay in Israel or in the Palestinian territories, we call on the citizens of the Slovak Republic to continue to pay maximum attention to the development of the situation, follow the local media, consider the necessity of moving within the country, and strictly respect the instructions of the security forces and the Israeli army,” the ministry said.

At the same time, the department does not recommend staying in the areas north of the cities of Akko, Karmiel and the Sea of ​​Galilee to the border between Israel and Lebanon, where there is an increased risk of rocket and drone attacks. from the territory of Lebanon or the Gaza Strip, which is still not possible to enter legally.

He also drew attention to the area of ​​the cities of Jenin, Nablus and Hebron on the West Bank of Jordan, where, according to him, there is an increased risk of an escalation of the security situation. “In the case of passing through checkpoints between the territories controlled by Israel and the Palestinian Authority, it is necessary to expect delays caused by vehicle and document checks,” the ministry warned.

At the same time, it pointed out that the security situation in Egypt is relatively stable and the crime rate is relatively low. “Egypt is visited by thousands of Slovak tourists every year. Egypt’s main tourist destinations such as Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, the Red Sea and Mediterranean coasts, Luxor, the greater Cairo center and other areas of major national monuments are considered safe by Egyptian security forces.,” the ministry pointed out.

On the contrary, it marked as dangerous the locations near the Egyptian-Israeli border, some roads, but also the northern areas of the Sinai Peninsula. where travel is prohibited by the local government due to ongoing counter-terrorism operations and frequent attacks on the local population and security forces.

“The movement of tourists in the desert areas (Libyan Desert, Western Desert, White Desert), but also in some parts in the west and south of the country, may be limited, or possible only with a police escort. In general, individual tourism to desert areas is not recommended,” the ministry said on its website.
