This Monday, the Évora Court sentenced singer Miguel Bravo to four and a half years in prison, with a suspended sentence, for crimes of sexual abuse of minors and aggravated pornography of minors.
During the reading of the ruling, the president of the group of judges stated that all the facts contained in the accusation were proven, remembering that the defendant fully confessed to the crimes during the trial.
Miguel Bravo was convicted of four pornography crimes of minors aggravated and three of sexual abuse of children. The victims were two young women who, at the time of the events, had 13 and 15 years old.
Despite having imposed a suspended sentence, the court highlighted the seriousness of the defendant’s conduct. The judge highlighted, however, factors such as the family support she benefits from, the fact that she did not contact the victims or other minors again and the regret shown.
Addressing the singer, the judge recalled that the victims were minors and that he was the only adult involved in the situation. He also warned that, if he appears again in court for similar facts, will serve the sentence effectively in a prison establishment.
“It is good that you are aware that these two minors are children, that you should protect and not subject them to these types of crimes. You are not aware of the consequences that these behaviors have on children’s lives”, he added.
In addition to the suspended prison sentence, Miguel Bravo was ordered to compensate one of the victims in 500 euros and was prohibited from exercising trust over minors for five years.
The singer was detained by the Judiciary Police July 24, 2024in Porto Alto, in the district of Santarém. According to the PJ, he was suspected of committing crimes involving pornography of minors and sexual abuse of children that occurred in Évora.
At the end of the session, lawyers for both parties refused to give statements to journalists.
