British King Charles III. on Monday, he received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Windsor Castle. In the interview, they mainly focused on preparations for the coming winter, primarily in the field of energy and air defense, writes TASR.
In a post on the X network, Zelensky stated that “as always, (it was) a good audience with King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.” He added that he thanked the monarch and the British people for their steadfast support of the Ukrainians.
Earlier on Sunday, Zelenskyi also met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London, whom he also informed about Ukraine’s needs in the area of strengthening air defense and protecting energy infrastructure before the winter season.
French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz were also present at the meeting. According to Downing Street, the topic of discussion was also the need to increase the production of weapons. The leaders used the meeting to coordinate their positions ahead of upcoming international summits and negotiations.
Based on established customs, members of the British royal family do not publicly comment on political issues. Charles III. and other high-ranking members of the royal family, however, have repeatedly expressed support for Ukraine.
His younger son, Prince Harry, was on an unannounced visit to Ukraine in April. On this occasion, he called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war and asked US President Donald Trump to show leadership and help find a solution to this war conflict. According to Reuters, during his third visit since the start of the war, Harry used significantly more direct vocabulary than any of his relatives before him.
