The former governor of Minas Gerais and pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, (Novo), stated the CBN Radio this Monday (June 8, 2026) that he would support the senator (PL-RJ) in a possible 2nd round against the president (PT) in the October presidential elections. The pre-candidate for Planalto maintained his position even after being questioned about the relationship between the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro and Daniel Vorcaro.
Zema justified his position based on his history of opposition to the PT. According to him, if he does not reach the 2nd round, he will support the candidate who runs for President against Lula. “I have always said that, as I did in Minas Gerais, I will always be against the PT. And, as my flag is always anti-PT, I will take my campaign forward. I hope to be in the second round and whoever is there will have my support”, declared.
Confirmation of support came after the release of an audio in which Flávio Bolsonaro with Daniel Vorcaro to finance the film “Dark Horse”, about the former president (PL). Zema did not show concern about possible developments in the case involving the senator and the businessman.
Zema also confirmed conversations with the former governor of Goiás and pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, (PSD), about a possible alliance for the presidential dispute. The articulation establishes a single ticket, with 1 of the 2 candidates for President and the other as vice president. Caiado acknowledged the good relationship between the two, but neither confirmed nor ruled out the possibility.
According to Zema, any definition of the composition of his ticket must be defined after the 2026 World Cup. He assesses that the electorate’s interest in the presidential dispute tends to grow only in the weeks leading up to the vote. Negotiations between the pre-candidates are still at an early stage and there is no definition as to who would be at the head of the ticket.
The Novo pre-candidate also mentioned the Secretary of Public Security of Minas Gerais, Rogério Greco, as a possible member of his team. Zema stated that Greco has the appropriate profile to work in the Ministry of Justice, but did not confirm whether he will participate in the presidential ticket or occupy another position in a possible government.
