The Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP) denounced the former professor at the University of São Paulo (USP) Alysson Leandro Barbate Mascaro for crimes related to sexual harassment, sexual harassment and rape. Mascaro was fired by USP following an administrative disciplinary process initiated to investigate allegations of sexual harassment. If the complaint is accepted, Mascaro will face criminal action for the crimes mentioned. by the Public Ministry. Estadão seeks contact with the defense.
In December last year, the USP Law School decided to fire the professorwho became investigated for harassment in 2024. He had been away from the institution since then. At the time of the complaint, Mascaro had already denied the accusations.
O precautionary removal was published in an ordinance in December 2024 and requested by the President of the preliminary investigation. In the document, the director stated that there was “strong evidence of the materiality of the facts and that they involve a possible typical framework for vertical sexual harassment”.
At the time, the The professor’s defense refuted the accusations and claimed that “fake Instagram profiles are created to spread slanderuntruths and stimulate intrigues”.
O proceedings against Mascaro were initiated following a request from the XI de Agosto Academic Center. The students’ representation cites a report published by the website The Intercept reporting alleged abuse against ten college students committed by Mascaro between 2006 and 2024.
Mascaro was an associate professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of São Paulo at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, professor of Philosophy and General Theory of Law and author of books such as Crisis and Coup and State and Political Form (Boitempo Editorial), Philosophy of Law and Introduction to the Study of Law (GEN-Atlas).
