Opening of the World Cup: see time and where to watch – 06/08/2026 – Sports

The 2026 World Cup starts on June 11, Thursday, and will have three opening ceremonies, one for each host country. Check below the schedule for each ceremony and where to watch them.

Mexico opening ceremony

The first is scheduled for the 11th, at 2:30 pm Brasília time, with Mexican singers Alejandro Fernández, Belinda Peregrín and Lila Downs, Venezuelan singer Danny Ocean, Colombian J Balvin, and South African singer Tyla, as well as Mexican groups Los Ángeles Azules and Maná.

The show precedes the first match of this World Cup: Mexico x South Africa, scheduled for 4pm in Brasília, in the State of Banorte, in Mexico City, in group A.

Canada Opening Ceremony

The second will be held on the 12th, Friday, at 2:30 pm Brasília time, and will feature performances by Canadians Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi and William Prince, Palestinian Elyanna, Bengali DJ Sanjoy, and French DJ Vegedream.

Then, at 4pm, Canada x Bosnia-Herzegovina, the first match of group B, begins at BMO Field.

United States opening ceremony

Still on Friday (12), the third and final opening ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 pm Brasília time, preceding the United States x Paraguay, at 10 pm, in group D, at the SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles.

Among the confirmed attractions are North American singers Katy Perry and Future, Brazilian Anitta, South Korean LISA, Nigerian Rema and South African Tyla again.

Where to watch

The opening ceremonies and games will be broadcast live on open TV by Globo and SBT, and on closed TV by SporTV. In streaming, official coverage will be provided by Globoplay, CazéTV on YouTube, and GE TV.
