The 2026 World Cup will begin this Thursday (11) at the Azteca stadium, in Mexico. Before the match that kicks off the World Cup, between Mexico and South Africa, the opening ceremony will feature shows by Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy.
The duo is responsible for the hit “Dai Dai”, the official song of the 2026 World Cup. This will be the third time that Shakira will participate in official World Cup ceremonies.
Names like Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla will also perform at the event, which precedes the opening game, at 4pm.
A TV Globo, SBT, SporTV, N Sports, GeTV (Globoplay) and CazéTV (Youtube) will broadcast the opening, scheduled at 2:30 pm (Brasília time) — CNN Sports follows in REAL TIME.
The following day, on June 12, the openings will take place in the other World Cup host countries, Canada and the United States.
In Toronto, Canadians Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette and Alessia Cara will perform before the clash between Canada and Bosnia. Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince were other names released.
On the same day, in Los Angeles, pop diva Katy Perry will be joined by rapper Future, DJ Sanjoy, Brazilian Anitta, and Paraguayan Marilina Bogado. They must present themselves before the United States and Paraguay. Thai singer Lisa, from the K-Pop group Blackpink, will also be present.
