The Jordanian Armed Forces stated this Wednesday (10) that they intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iran towards the area of the American air base in Al-Azraq, Jordan.

The military added that debris from the interception operation fell into Jordanian territory, but caused no injuries or material damage.

Earlier on Wednesday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed to have deployed long-range missiles in Jordan.

According to state media, the targets included F-35 fighter jet hangars and a command center in control. Tehran reportedly used long-range missiles during the offensive.

Exchange of attacks

Early Tuesday evening, CENTCOM (US Central Command) stated that its forces began launching “self-defense” attacks against Iran at 6 pm (Brasília time), in response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter.

The extent and intensity of the US strikes were not immediately clear, although the Central Command post described them as a “proportionate response to Iran’s unwarranted aggression.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that he was informed by the US Army that Iran shot down a US Apache helicopter that crashed off the coast of Oman.

Hours after the strikes, the US Army said it had completed self-defense strikes against Iran.

“CENTCOM forces attacked Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations and surveillance radars near the Strait of Hormuz with precision munitions fired by U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets,” CENTCOM said in a press release.
