Štefan Skrúcaný became known to Slovaks in the 1990s, when he actively participated in the creation of political satire. The government of Vladimír Mečiar was a rich inspiration for the creators. He worked with Mir Nog, Jaroslav Filip, Stan Radič and Rasť Piško on the satirical show. They started with the show Apropo first on the radio, and only later reached the television screens.
For the portal, the well-known actor, presenter, comedian, humorist and singer commented on the current state of Slovakia. In the interview, he did not avoid harsh criticism of conditions in the department of culture. Skrúcaný openly talks about the revolt of the average and sub-average and, in his words, the genocide of culture. This is what he calls the deliberate and systematic extermination or destruction of an entire group of people.
A well-known Slovak responded to his words on the Telegram platform composer, conductor and producer Oskar Rózsa. The author of the adaptation of the national anthem did not put napkins in front of his mouth. “And when Mr. Skrúcaný, at the end of his enviable artistic career, has the geriatric courage to divide people he doesn’t even know into average and below average, I would have a purely empirical question.” he wrote harsh words.
He immediately stiffened. “Whether he considers himself an average actor and a below-average singer, or an average singer and a below-average actor. Because in his case, it all comes together, so to speak. Which also makes me wonder if it’s better to be the weakest of the average, or the best of the below-average… In Slovak show business, it probably doesn’t matter.” Rózsa thinks.
