Political violence in the United States is not a matter of a small minority, at least not as an idea. In a national survey, a good 35 percent of American adults said violence is “usually or always justified” to achieve a political goal. A year earlier it was 32 percent. The increase is moderate, but it points in a direction that worries the researchers involved.
