The United States began attacks on Iran this Tuesday (June 9, 2026), at 6 pm (Brasília time), in response to the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter patrolling the Strait of Hormuz. The aircraft’s two pilots were rescued by a maritime drone and are safe.
United States Central Command operates as a “proportional response to Iran’s unjustified aggression”. The military action was launched as a direct response to the shooting down of the Apache helicopter by Iranian forces on Monday night (June 8, 2026).
The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), announced the shooting down of the helicopter this Tuesday (June 9), before the start of the military offensive.
“I have just been informed by our Grand Army that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache helicopters while it was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.”Trump published in Truth Social.
In the post, the president had already said that he intended to retaliate against Iran.
“The United States must, by necessity, respond to this attack”said Trump.
