Atypical rain

The next few days will be marked by atypical rain conditions in the South, Southeast and Central-West regions of Brazil, since, at this time of June, the period is dry in the localities. According to Climatempo, the climate condition is due to the passage and formation of several cold frontsassociated with extratropical cyclones.

According to Climatempo, rain events are rare and, in general, of short duration. “The forecast is that many areas of the Southeast and Midwest will have several days with rain until the winter solstice, which is the official start of winter in the Southern Hemisphere, scheduled for June 21. Thus, in less than two weeks, the Accumulated rain volume could exceed the average for June in various areas. The south of Brazil will also have several days with rain showers”, estimates the meteorology company.

The first of these cold fronts formed on Tuesday (9), in southern Brazil, associated with an extratropical cyclonewith low intensity, and moving quickly towards the high seas. However, on Wednesday (10), a new area of low atmospheric pressure intensified and expanded between Paraguay, the South and the Central-West of Brazil, generating new areas of rain.

On Thursday (11), a new cold front and an extratropical cyclone formed from this low pressure. “Between Friday and Sunday, rain spreads over the Southeast and Midwest with the movement of the cold front over these regions”, states the meteorology company.

Between Wednesday (17) and Friday (19), there must be a new cold front and extratropical cyclone formation between Paraguay and southern Brazilas estimated by Climatempo. In the first days of winter this year, a strong cold front could also advance over the country.
