The president of the (Superior Electoral Court), denied this Friday (12) a request from allies of the president (PT) to prevent the use of the film “”, about the life of the former president (), in pieces in favor of (PL).
The denial, however, was due to procedural reasons. The judge assessed that the authors do not have the legitimacy to make the request because they are not pre-candidates for the Presidency of the Republic, like the senator.
Lawyers from the Prerrogativas group and federal deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG) filed the lawsuit in the electoral court.
“Regarding the topic, this Superior Court has established jurisprudence to the effect that active legitimacy presupposes not only the registration of a candidacy to participate in the same electoral contest to which the illicit act in question refers, but it is also necessary that this candidacy belongs to the same constituency as the candidates represented”, said the president of the court, in the decision.
Kassio states that Rogério Correia should be a candidate for re-election to a seat in the Chamber of Deputies and Marco Aurélio Carvalho did not intend to participate in the elections.
The request also wanted a ban on commercial release, pre-premiere, promotional sessions, cinematographic distribution, streaming distribution, paid advertising, promotion, broadcasting of sponsored trailers, launch events and coordinated circulation of the film during the 2026 electoral period, covering pre-campaign, campaign, first round and eventual second round.
In the representation, the lawyers state that the presidential dispute “cannot be influenced by million-dollar expenses external to electoral accounting, sponsored by companies, bankers, foreign funds or intermediaries, under the formal label of audiovisual investment.”
The film became known after being mentioned in the Banco Master scandal last month. Interest in the subject gained strength after messages from , owner of , were revealed by the website The Intercept Brasil and showed the former banker’s relationship with .
