Humorist, producer and writer Rasťo Piško learned shocking information from doctors two years ago. The mark on his back, which he did not pay attention to, after the examinations showed it to be malignant and the entry – cancer appeared in his medical report. The disease took away the strength in his legs, but the popular entertainer stood up to it and fought. At the recent christening of the Wimmer schnitzel pork schnitzel of his friend Štefan Wimmer in Bratislava, he told us how he is doing. “Good at the moment,” evaluated the artistic multi-talent briefly but succinctly. And he added details of what every single day brings him.
“Since I’m still being treated for cancer, I’m taking a lot of medication and at the same time I’m also taking pill chemotherapy so that I don’t have to go to the clinic to the hospital, so I’m quite limited by that.” stated for Piško, who lives in a sanatorium, where he is well taken care of day and night.
“I have breakfast, lunch and, in between, rehabilitation in the morning or afternoon. I go cycling, exercise and try to walk slowly with the g-apparatus (folding walker, note red). There is a physiotherapist there, and when I finish, I often add more. My friends brought me dumbbells for my hands, so I exercise with my arms and legs,” names the humorist who moves around in a wheelchair. He is not alone in a specialized facility.
“I have a good friend who has been at the facility for about ten years. He is retired, a former geologist, with whom I go to debate, we watch TV together. And so the day goes by…” revealed Piško. If he is inside for a long time, he can go outside for fresh air.
“We have a park there, you can go down to the park. Very often a visitor comes to see me. They are friends, even two or three times a day. Fortunately, I am not bored and I try to do everything to improve my health,” says Rasťo, who has many plans in his head. He is pleased that the doctors mostly have good news for him. “The doctor tells me that we have the disease under control. Sometimes there are some problems, but it’s progressing well, but I’m not healthy yet.” added Piško for Koktejl.sk.
