The leaders of the 7 largest economies in the world meet from Monday (June 15, 2026) to Wednesday (June 17) in Évian-les-Bains, France. Conflicts in the Middle East, including Iran, and Ukraine are likely to dominate discussions.
The heads of state of France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States take part in the summit. Representatives from the European Union will also be present. Brazil is among the guests. The president (PT) to France on Sunday (June 14), at 3pm (Brasília time).
Host of the meeting, France tries to preserve the group’s unity and avoid friction with the president of the United States (Republican Party).
The geopolitical scenario has elevated crisis management to the center of the agenda. Created 50 years ago to coordinate responses to economic and international challenges, the G7 has lost some of its cohesion since Trump’s return to the White House in 2025.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, was invited to participate. France also called Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Egypt, which are countries impacted by the conflict involving Iran or engaged in mediation initiatives.
India, Kenya and South Korea will also participate in the discussions.
The French government has set modest expectations for the summit. There are no plans for relevant announcements on the main topics on the agenda. The talks must also address imbalances in the global economy and the search for sources of critical minerals outside China.
