Macron says agreement between US and Iran will be G7 topic

The President of France, (Renaissance, center), said that the agreement announced on Sunday (June 14, 2026) by the United States and Iran will be one of the main themes of the conference, which began this Monday (June 15, 2026), in Évian-les-Bains, France.

On (June 14, 2026), Macron stated that leaders will analyze the effects of the understanding on Tehran. Discussions are expected to include the situation in Lebanon, circulation through the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear and ballistic programs.

“The objective will be to analyze the consequences of this agreement, support for Lebanon, the reopening of Hormuz in a lasting way and, obviously, the conclusion of an agreement on nuclear and ballistics issues in Iran”declared Macron, translated from French.

The French president said that representatives from Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will participate in discussions related to the Middle East. The 3 countries had diplomatic action or were directly affected by the conflict.

Macron also stated that the G7 will discuss alternatives to diversify the routes used to transport energy produced in the region. According to him, the measure would reduce dependence on current routes and the effects of interruptions on world economies.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), announced on Sunday (June 14, 2026) that the agreement with Iran was “full”. He ordered the immediate withdrawal of the North American naval blockade and authorized the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without charging a toll.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, “immediate and permanent” of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Pakistan acted as a mediator in the negotiations.

According to Sharif, the formal signing will take place on Friday (June 19, 2026), in Switzerland. Full terms have not yet been released. The parties must hold technical meetings before the ceremony.

In addition to Iran, the war in Ukraine is on the summit’s agenda. Macron said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would attend the meeting. The leaders will also discuss support for Kiev and conditions for future peace talks.

The summit will be held until Wednesday (June 17, 2026). The G7 brings together Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. Brazil participates as a guest, alongside South Korea, India and Kenya.
