A technical failure in the Line 2-Green platform door system caused inconvenience for passengers on the São Paulo Metro this Tuesday morning (16) and temporarily affected the operation of lines 1-Blue and 15-Silver.
According to the company, the problem was registered around 6:40 am at the Vila Prudente, Sacomã and Tamanduateí stations. To avoid excessive accumulation of passengers on platforms and integration points, the Metro started to operate at reduced speed and longer stopping times on the three lines.
The occurrence caused repercussions in different regions of the network during the morning peak hour. On social media, users reported difficulties boarding and published images showing crowded platformsin addition to crowds on escalators and circulation areas at stations.
O Metro reported that maintenance teams worked on site to resolve the fault. At 9:57 am, the company announced the normalization of train circulation on Line 2-Green and the end of operational restrictions adopted on lines 1-Blue and 15-Silver.
In a note released after the normalization of operations, Metrô reported that it made an incident statement available on its website for affected passengers. “Metrô apologizes to passengers for the inconvenience caused and makes a statement of occurrence available on the company website for possible justifications.“, said the company.
