The game
Germany had more possession of the ball, but had many difficulties entering the opponent’s area. The first good opportunity came in the 6th minute, from Kimmich’s precise cross to Havertz. Goalkeeper Fofana made a great save.
Ivory Coast had counterattacks as their main option throughout the match, especially on the left side with Diomandé. But the Germans were still better at the game; Musiala and Nmecha had dangerous shots, and Pavlovic opened the scoring at 21, but the move was canceled due to a foul on the Ivorian goalkeeper.
At 29, Ivory Coast took advantage of the best chance they had and made it 1-0, through Franck Kessié. Another arrival on the left side with Diomandé. He passed Kimmich and crossed low to Diallo. In the small area, the number 15 had difficulties to dominate, but still finished. The shot was blocked and it was clear for midfielder Kessié to hit.
Havertz even tied, but the referee called a foul at the origin of the play. Even though they always had possession in the attacking field, Germany didn’t get any more clear chances before the break.
German pressure increased in the second half, which yielded results with Undav’s goal. In the 26th minute, after a precise cross, he hit it and sent it into the goal.
In stoppage time, in the 49th minute of the final stage, Nmecha made a spectacular pass to Undav, who dominated unmarked in the area, spun and sent it into the back of the net.
