Lucas Paquetá commented in a press conference this Sunday (21) on Raphinha’s absence and Neymar’s return to training for the Brazilian team during the World Cup.
When talking about the Barcelona striker’s injury, the midfielder classified the physical problem as a “small hindrance” and expressed confidence in his teammate’s recovery.
“We are all sad, especially Rapha, for this small obstacle. He has the support of all of us and we are by his side at this moment. We hope that he can recover as soon as possible and we are available to help him with whatever he needs”, he stated.
The Flamengo athlete still avoided giving a return date, but stated that the group hopes to see him back soon.
“Rapha is a very important player for us. We all know his characteristics. We are losing a very important player. As for time, we don’t pay much attention to that. We hope it happens as quickly as possible and we already see him working intensively so that his recovery is as quick as possible.”
Substitute is Ancelotti’s choice
The number 20 also reinforced that everyone is prepared to take on responsibilities when necessary.
“I always make myself available. This is something he decides. Regardless of the names, everyone is prepared to come in and do their best.”
Paquetá highlighted Raphinha’s importance for the team and said that the coaching staff has options to make up for the player’s absence.
“He’s a guy who has had incredible seasons and is growing a lot within the national team. When a player of this importance is left out, we need to restructure ourselves quickly. But the list was very well chosen by the professor. There are 26 quality athletes and I’m sure that whoever joins will do it in the best possible way”, he added.
