Addis Ababa/Mekelle – Three weeks after the parliamentary election in Ethiopia, the East African country’s electoral commission declared Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s ruling Prosperity Party PP the clear winner on Sunday. Accordingly, the PP accounted for 438 of the 486 seats in the Addis Ababa parliament. The 50-year-old has been in office since 2018 and was considered a reformer. In 2019 he received the Nobel Peace Prize for resolving the border conflict with Eritrea. But later he acted increasingly authoritarian.
