Gonçalo Ramos is focused on the 2026 World Cup with the Seleção, but he already has another decisive moment planned for the days following the competition: his wedding to Margarida Amaral Domingues. In an interview on the SIC program, the Paris Saint-Germain striker opened a rare window into his personal life and revealed that the wedding will take place on the weekend immediately after the final.
The revelation also brought another detail that caught the attention of fans: João Neves, from Tavira, will be the godfather of the ceremony, reinforcing the closeness between the two players, who also share a dressing room at PSG.
Friendship that went from football to family
In the conversation with Daniel Oliveira, Gonçalo Ramos explained that the connection with João Neves and actress Madalena Aragão went beyond the professional context a long time ago. “We have a family relationship”, he stated, making clear the level of trust between everyone.
This closeness ended up being reflected in the marriage. “She’s going to be the bridesmaid at the wedding and João is my best man. I think that says it all”, said the Portuguese international, in one of the most talked about passages of the interview.
The request was simple and unceremonious
Away from big productions, Gonçalo Ramos revealed that the marriage proposal took place discreetly, at home, as they both wanted. According to the same source, the player explained that he had always told his partner that he would not make a “big fuss”. When he brought the ring home, he decided to move on the same day. “I put it in the cupboard and asked why there was a packet of biscuits there”, he recalled with a laugh. When Margarida found the box, the reaction was immediate: “Really?”
Although the wedding has already been scheduled, the priority remains the Selection. Gonçalo Ramos admitted that the choice of date was not innocent and also carries a clear desire: to be in the World Cup final with Portugal. “We scheduled it for the weekend after the World Cup final. We are hopeful that we will at least be in the final,” he said, showing confidence in the team’s trajectory.
Support off the pitch
Throughout the interview, Gonçalo Ramos also highlighted the importance of the bride in his life. He described Daisy as the foundation of his stability outside of football. “Everything that isn’t football, she is the support. She does everything I need and when I get home, it’s done. She is the pillar of our family”, he confessed.
Between the ambition of winning the World Cup and the expectation of marriage, the striker is going through decisive weeks. And, if everything goes as you imagine, July could bring two celebrations in just a few days. “If it can be just one goal in the final, I’ll sign it right away”, concluded Gonçalo Ramos, leaving the possibility of exchanging a world medal for an alliance with almost no time to breathe up in the air.
