Algeria beat Jordan 2-1 this Monday (22), for the second round of Group J of the 2026 World Cup, in North America, a result which guaranteed the leadership of the group for Lionel Messi’s Argentina, who had already qualified for the round of 16 earlier.
After starting losing to Jordan, a World Cup debutant, with a goal from Nizar Al Rashdan in the 36th minute, the The Algerian team turned the match around at the San Francisco Bay Stadium, in Santa Clara, with goals from Nadhir Benbouali and Amine Gouiri.
Algeria will compete for a place in the next phase on Saturday (27) against Austria, with the two teams tied on three points, while Argentina, current world champion and leader of the group with six points, will face Jordan, who is already eliminated.
